Richter, The Enigma

Sviatoslav Richter's talent was such that Prokofiev's 9th Sonata was dedicated to him, he performed at Stalin's funeral with Oistrakh and Rostropovich and accompanied Schwarzkopf and Fischer Dieskau. This profile, illustrated by rare and previously unseen archive material spanning from the 1950's to the present day, will give audiences a view of life in Soviet Russia as seen from the standpoint of one of the world's greatest and yet most enigmatic pianists.
