Cecilia Bartoli in Sacrificium – The music of the Castrati

October 2009 sees the worldwide release of the new CD recording by the Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli. Like many of her earlier offerings, this latest recording seeks to present audiences with part of the 18th century musical repertoire.
Following her highly successful collection devoted to Vivaldi, and those which brought lesser-known works by Glück and Salieri to public attention, and relit memories of the immense talent of Maria Malibran, Cecilia Bartoli will this time highlight music written for those celebrated musical phenomena, the Italian castrati.
