Documentaries - Johan van der Keuken
Trois Portraits du "Printemps" |
 |
Snapshots of real life in Western Europe - portraits of people, who each in their own way, experienced economic tensions in the mid ‘70s. In the portraits of firstly Joop Uchtman, who worked until recently as a foreman in a textile workshop, and secondly Doris Schwert, a young woman who follows the communist tradition of her father, I have above all focused on words, interviewing people face to face with the camera, keeping the camera on my shoulder (the camera is itself a protagonist of the film). In the third portrait, words are rare. It begins at the point when Jan van Haagen, a metal worker, cycles down the road where he lives in a suburb of Amsterdam. The films shows all the details of a normal working day in condensed fashion: 9 hours 25 minutes transposes into 12 minutes on film. |
